Well hello there. Looking for a new dog? I am a unique mix of heeler and shepherd and a lovely color too. You won't see another dog like me running around the block, or at Pets Mart. Or at the beach. No sir. I am a very special girl, longing for a home of my own. Things were pretty bleak before they rescued me and brought me here. My former owners were cruel and uncaring. They kept me on a log chain tied to a large tree for nearly a year. They only fed me once and a while. My weight when I was rescued was 18 pounds, about one-third of my typical 50 pound weight. I didn't even know how to eat out of a bowl when I came here. Toys were confusing to me too. They scared me and I'd bark if you had one in your hand and then run and hide.
Being here I am free to be happy again. I am still learning to trust and be the special dog I am inside. I will do better in a home without small children. If you have a yard for me to run and play in while you're away at work...that's the best environment for me. I love being outdoors, will walk on a lead next to you and will even run alongside if you jog. Being outdoors is the greatest!. In the few months since coming here, I've learned to chase the ball, bring it back and enjoy a spirited game of tug of war. I am a strong-willed girl, so be firm with me. I adore my rescue dad here at the sanctuary...he tells me evey day I'm a wonderful dog. All I need now is a new home just for me. I will grow into a loyal, brave dog. Won't you please take me home?
