I don't look like any other dog you've seen recently. I am a mix of two small to medium sized breeds so that makes me just the perfect sized dog! I'm a happy girl too. I was rescued from certain death along with my litter of puppies. They have all found new forever homes so now it's my turn! It's a miracle I'm here really. Perry found me running down the shoulder of a very, very busy highway and decided to take me home. Only the next morning it was clear I needed to nurse some puppies! So he drove back to the spot he'd found me, and reluctantly turned me loose in the hopes he'd find my pups. Sure enough, about a mile from the highway, I ran under an old, abandoned house. Perry got close enough and could hear the pups crying. He found a neighbor and asked them to keep an eye out for us - and left some food for me.
Several weeks later when the pups were older, Perry came back and took us all home with him. It was a good thing, because I was very, very sick with heartworm disease. The vet that examined me said I also survived Distemper as a puppy--he could tell from the condition of my teeth. I absolutely need a fenced yard at my new home. I am very strong willed but will learn with a strong hand, and loads of patience. I've been out on my own my whole life so I'm doing the best I can to adjust to rules, and my role in the pack, and behaving myself. I do play well with all the other dogs here at the sanctuary. I have no bad habits--although sometimes I'm still finnicky about my food. But I am a very affectionate and loving dog, ready to go to a home I can call my own. Won't you find it in your heart to give me a place at your house? It will be a decision you'll never regret.
